The new innkeepers are the mother and daughter team of Teresa Smith and Annette Grogan. Before their move to Jefferson, Texas, Annette had spent the last twelve years residing in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was an interior designer for various government agencies. Teresa has resided in Michigan her entire life. Working in the oil and gas industry, she traveled throughout that state for 25 years.

Both had talked about going into business together. After deciding on a bed and breakfast, they started looking across the United States via the internet. After numerous trips to different states from the East Coast to the West Coast, last Jun they made a four day trip to Texas. AFter looking at numerous bed and breakfast establishments from San Antonio to Jefferson, it was the Old Mulberry Inn that captured their interest.

They were finally able to realize their dream on October 30, 2009 when the transfer of title was completed.

They are slowly making changes to the Old Mulberry Inn and Cottages as they settle into the new home as well as the Bed and Breakfast business to suit their ideas and visions. They have started work on the grounds, adding or replanting new flower beds, painting all seven porches and other little projects, in the hopes of continuing to make it a wonderful and inviting place for guests. As they have not run this type of business before, they are striving to learn everything the business brings their way and they hope everyone who stays with them enjoys Old Mulberry Inn and Cottages and the town of Jefferson as much as they do.
